Ramos star Sergio Garcia, who was in a slump for much of his career, has taken another step forward with a pair of wins in a row.
It was a return to form after a season in which he struggled with injuries, and the second of these came in a win over Chivas USA.
Garcia made a late run in the 4-0 win, then gave the team the lead in the 91st minute.
The goal came after he was caught by Chivas’ David Villa in the box.
With the score tied 1-1 in the 84th minute, Garcia struck again and it was 1-0 in the 85th.
He went on to score the game-winner for the second straight match in a 1-2 tie.
This was the third straight win for the team, which also defeated the New York Red Bulls 2-1 on Saturday.
In other games, the team also recorded a 1–1 draw against Sporting KC, 3-2 over Houston, and 2-0 over FC Dallas.
For the season, the Gio have won four of their past five, with three draws and two losses.
But they will face FC Dallas on Wednesday at BBVA Compass Stadium, which the team has never won in the city.
Villa was also involved in the victory.
A second goal from Garcia was the game’s only goal.
If he can get a goal against Chivas, it would put him on the pace to earn a berth in the US Open Cup.
“He is doing well,” coach Bruce Arena said of Garcia.
They had a great start to the season.
You’re going to see him get into some good rhythm.”
Villas shot was blocked by goalkeeper David Bingham in the 18th minute.
Bingham had a solid night.
Bingham came up big in the midfield, scoring in the 89th minute for his first goal of the season in the 80th minute off a corner kick.
Darius Rojo also had a goal for the club in the match.
Robbie Keane was also up for the task, coming up big with a goal and an assist.
Keane has scored in four straight games and is a top option for the USMNT.
Defender Andrew Carleton scored the only goal for Sporting KC.
Klinsmann has given Garcia some confidence, and Garcia is finding his game in the new-look midfield.
Sergio Garcia will be playing in the Open Cup on Wednesday against Chas and Chivas.
More to come on this and more from Sporting Kansas City.
